Justin has more than five years of experience at university writing centers, and has been talking about writing since he was at least five. He has published an academic book chapter, "Pungent Silence," on empathy and absurd humor in Steven Universe.
 
Justin's work as writing consultant is an outgrowth of his love for language combined with his passionate curiosity. He has played piano for fifteen years, climbs and camps avidly, and has worked as a college English instructor, a community geography scholar, a philosophy research assistant, and a waiter. All of these experiences inform his pedagogy and his theories of composition (though some more subtly than others).
 
Justin balances his brain by splitting time between bookish undertakings and jobs that take him outdoors. This fall he worked in a cabin in the White Mountains, cooking meals for over 90 guests and hauling 80 pounds of supplies and waste to and from the summit of Mount Washington. In his spare time he led writing workshops and wrote, directed, and starred in the world premiere of the breakfast skit, Millennial Grandpa.

He has an MA in English from UMass Boston, and a BA in Geography from Vassar College.
